Born in Taipei in 1968, Chiu Kuo-chun is currently based in Tainan. In recent years, his work has focused on Taiwanese folk beliefs and religious traditions. Drawing inspiration from traditional temple embroidery, he has developed a series of works using a double-sided embroidery technique. He is also interested in the transformation of Tainan’s industries, and combines images of abandoned buildings with embroidered deities to explore the gradual disappearance of faith amid rapid social change and the erosion of established values.
