Born in Australia in 1991, Emma Buswell is an artist and arts worker whose art explores place, identity, community, and cultural politics. Drawing on her family’s traditions of weaving and craft, she incorporates oral histories, local legends, and everyday ephemera into her practice. Through weaving, beadwork, crochet, and other craft-based techniques, she examines issues of nationhood, class, gender, and labor, while blurring the boundaries between kitsch and cultural representation.
