Mariko Kobayashi was born in Osaka in 1987 and received an MFA in Design from Tama Art University in 2012. She skillfully combines weaving, dyeing, embroidery, and painting to construct visions of a world in which all living beings coexist in harmony. Her practice has long focused on cycles of life and the relationships between humans, plants, and animals. Employing a pastoral and poetic visual language, she celebrates the beauty of life while reflecting on the unequal relationships between humans and nature and animals in contemporary society.
