Rahic Talif was born in 1962 in Makota’ay, a Pangcah (Amis) community in Fengbin, Hualien. His artistic practice is rooted in family memories and lived experiences of the Pangcah people. He frequently works with found objects, driftwood, and marine debris, transforming and recontextualizing these everyday materials through processes of collecting and reuse, while reflecting on the land, the ocean, and environmental change. From the Typhoon Action Project and Space of Fifty Steps to his Broussonetia papyrifera series, Talif has continued to explore the relationships among Indigenous culture, the natural environment, and art through actions, documentation, and installations.
