Sasaki Rui was born in Kochi, Japan, in 1984. She graduated from Musashino Art University and received an MFA in Glass from the Rhode Island School of Design. Drawing inspiration from nature and her everyday surroundings, Sasaki uses glass to preserve plants and traces of lived experience, while exploring the themes of existence, memory, and nostalgia. Plants serve as vessels connecting the past and the present, bringing personal memories into dialogue with viewers’ own experiences and evoking emotional resonances that transcend time and place.
