Tsherin Sherpa

Born in Nepal in 1968, Tsherin Sherpa studied in Taiwan before moving to the United States. Trained in thangka painting, he transforms imagery from Tibetan Buddhism through the visual language of Pop Art, developing a distinctive contemporary artistic practice. In recent years, his sculptural works have been created in collaboration with traditional Nepalese artisans, and use the technique of gilded bronze sculpture to transform traditional craftsmanship into a new artistic language.
