Yang Ming-dye was born in Jiali, Tainan, in 1955. He graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at the National Academy of Arts and was a key member of the Ten Young Printmakers Association. His early practice focused on local Taiwanese culture and folk traditions. He later traveled to the United States to study sculpture, and after returning to Taiwan, began experimenting across media, incorporating printmaking with paper, glass, metal, and spatial installation as means of extending two-dimensional prints into three-dimensional space. In recent years, he has explored electroluminescent materials and printing technologies as he continues to expand the visual possibilities of printmaking.
