MPRESSION / GAZE:Around Tainan – Spinning Circles Plein Air Action

About the work
Led by Director Chang Chun-yeh, participants stepped outside the classroom to paint together on location around Tainan’s roundabouts. By looking anew at familiar yet often overlooked public spaces, the project brings individual observation and perception into the public realm through art. The work uses a slowly rotating wheel-like installation to present the participants’ plein-air paintings in a frame-by-frame animation-like sequence, while an electronic photo frame displays documentation of the creative process. In this way, static landscapes are transformed into a flowing impression of the city, echoing the continuous rhythm of the roundabout and symbolizing Tainan as a city where history and the present, memory and reality, intersect and coexist.
