Floating Memories: Lotus of Devotion
About the work
Inspired by the offering of flowers at temples as a gesture of prayer, this work takes the form of a site-specific installation that brings collective action into focus. The artists conceal lifelike plants in the corners of the temple, triggering a bodily exploration and journey of perception. Following the plants’ cues, visitors eventually arrive at a temple pond recreated on site, evoking a scene lost to historical memory. There, they are welcome to place a “floating lotus” into the tranquil waters themselves. Through this shared gesture, a contemporary ritual landscape that transcends time and space takes shape at the threshold between reality and imagination.
