About the work

re : Cycle|Whirling Return

Jane Ingram Allen collects plant fibers from local environments and transforms these natural materials into handmade paper, and this process brings together and expresses her observations, encounters, and memories of place. Her work investigates the cycles of material regeneration, the changing seasons, and the flow of life. For this exhibition, alongside Allen’s individual works, a number of participants have been invited into the century-old Tainan Park to collect plants and collaboratively make handmade paper. Through the encounter between materials and people, new works and memories gradually take shape. A cycle does not mean returning to where we began: With every return, new possibilities emerge.
