Deformed Loop

About the work
Deformed Loop continues the artist’s recent creative foray into “Organic Tainan,” while exploring the life processes of the “loop” as it continually generates and transforms, and reflecting on the ways in which architecture, the city, and living organisms are intermingled. Taking an inhabitable meteorite as its archetype, the work exists somewhere between a rock, a cell, a celestial body, and a micro-architecture. Constructed through the CNC stacking and lamination of timber, its layered structure brings to mind geological sedimentation, the growth rings of trees, and the accumulated history of the city. As visitors enter the work, the sculpture transforms from an object into a sensory space. It also responds to the organic urban fabric of Tainan, where streets and alleys, architecture, and lived memories continuously take shape and overlap. In doing so, the work reconnects the body, space, time, and memory.
